Tiny Wish Quilts
On November 28, Give Rise Studio will be hosting a Make It Market in Downtown Frederick, and I’m delighted to host one of the projects that attendees can choose to make! We will be making Tiny Wish Quilts that can be used as ornaments or simple treasures to hold in your hand enclosing a personal wish - for yourself, for a friend or loved one, or for the entire world.
At my booth, each person will start by writing or drawing their wish on a small piece of fabric. Then they will choose an envelope to snuggle their quilt into - each envelope has two colors of peppered cotton fabric, which is woven with two colors of thread with a loose enough weave that makes it lovely to quilt through.
Then we will walk through the steps to hand quilt to stitch the tiny quilt together, enclosing the wish like batting within the layers of the quilt. Batting is the part of a quilt that provides the warmth, so the wishes will bring warmth to the tiny creations.
The Make It Market is being held on Frederick's small-business focused Frosty Friday which is a VERY popular day in our town with lots and lots of foot traffic and community activities and special things happening. I hope you’ll join us!
You can sign up in advance to make a Tiny Wish Quilt, or just drop in anytime between 1-4pm on Friday, November 28! The other options are likely to tempt you as well - in addition to the tiny quilts, there will be painting, letter press, mini brooms and macrame.
Give Rise Studio is at 125 S Carroll St #101, Frederick, MD 21701
